"My Blueberry Nights" was a beautiful film in spite of some wince-worthy moments with Norah Jones. When you put powerhouses such as Jude Law, Rachel Weisz, and Natalie Portman, who are all acting their hearts out and being soooo good, alongside Norah Jones... it's just that the level of craft is so contrasted! There's a scene where Norah Jones confronts Portman close to the end of their story and you just cringe during Jones' delivery of pretty important lines for the film. Wong Kar Wai is an excellent director and the wonder becomes: is he looking at Norah's physical acting and not listening to her delivery?
yeah, i heard really mixed reviews about that one, which is why i'm dying to see it. i'm a pretty die-hard fan of most WKW films, particularly chungking express, fallen angels, in the mood and 2046...and i feel that his work is generally very subjective and completely up to individual interpretation. absolutes like "good" and "bad" simply don't apply-- it's abstract art. i'm just worried though because it's his first english-language film with hollywood actors...it's just a whole different ballgame.
ah and, yes, then there's the norah jones factor. ooh, i'm cringing thinking about it!
my blueberry nights...i tried so hard to focus on the beautiful...and it was there - but norah jones was genuinely akward.
the counterfitters was def. woth seeing, i had read about the story it was based upon (which is incredible), i though it was brought to life wonderfully.
the rest are also on my list...though i will focus most efforts toward the savages given my ridiculous obsession with one mr.psh -- after finals it's him and me (and some licorice).

La Vie and La Rose was pretty amazing in all aspects. A well deserved Oscar for Marion Cotillard. Almost all these films are on my list as well.
